meda Billing · HzV
HzV: your contract services,
with evidence, for your approval.
GP-centred care (HzV) pays under its own contracts, with its own flat rates and surcharges outside the EBM. In a mixed day of statutory, HzV and private patients, different catalogs may apply, depending on the insurer, the contract and enrolment.
covered by the contract
Simplified. Each contract sets what it covers.

In short
HzV in three sentences.
Statutory health insurers must offer their members GP-centred care (hausarztzentrierte Versorgung, HzV) and sign their own contracts for it.1
Taking part is voluntary for patients. Whoever enrols is tied to the chosen GP practice for at least a year.1
For enrolled patients, services on a contract’s code list (Ziffernkranz) are billed through the HzV, not through the KV. Services outside the code list still go through the KV.2
HzV in daily practice
A second billing logic, on the same day.
The consultation does not sort patients by contract. Billing has to.
For enrolled patients, services on their contract’s code list go through the HzV. Everything outside the code list, and every other patient, goes through the KV.2
Which services belong to it is set in the code list of each contract, with its own validity date.3
Billing a code-list service through the KV as well is double billing and can lead to claims by the health insurer.2
meda Billing
How meda works with the HzV.
meda shows you each possible billing code with its catalogue and the sentence that supports it, next to EBM and GOÄ in one list.
meda writes the note down during the consultation and checks it against the catalogues.
Each suggestion depends on the patient’s context and shows which catalogue it comes from, with the sentence that supports it.
The doctor approves every billing code. Nothing enters your PVS unless you approve it.

HzV questions
Which HzV contracts are covered?
meda checks HzV contract billing codes. Which apply to your practice depends on your region, your patients’ health insurers and your participation. We go through yours in the call.
Who can take part in the HzV?
Patients enrol voluntarily and are then tied to their GP practice for at least a year. They can withdraw within two weeks without giving a reason.1
Can we bill code-list services through the KV?
Not for enrolled patients. What is on the contract’s code list is billed through the HzV; billing it through the KV as well would be double billing. Services outside the code list still go through the KV.2
Do HzV and EBM suggestions get mixed up?
No. Each suggestion depends on the patient’s context and shows its catalogue.
Does meda change anything in our PVS?
Only what you approve. Suggestions stay in the review; nothing enters your PVS unless you approve it.
